Watching Monkeys Soak in Hot Springs on the Roof of Japan (Nagano Prefecture)
Nagano Prefecture is the fourth largest first level administrative region in Japan, second only to Hokkaido, Iwate, and Fukushima. Due to its jurisdiction roughly being the former "Shinano Province" in the feudal system, it is still commonly referred to as "Shinshu". Surrounding Nagano Prefecture, there are mountains with an altitude of over 3000 meters, such as Gun Mountain, Yuyue Mountain, and Chiao On Mountain, which are also known as the "Roof of Japan". Nagano Prefecture has the most adjacent prefectures in Japan, so although it is located inland without adjacent seas, fresh seafood can be imported from neighboring counties.
