Hakodate City, formerly known as Hakodate, is a coastal city located on the southeastern Kamita Peninsula of the Tsushima Peninsula in southern Hokkaido. It is surrounded to the east, south, and west by the Pacific Ocean, Tsugaru Strait, and Hakodate Bay, and is now known as Nakano City.
